Wansa Paoin is a surgeon and occasional consultant. For the last 30 years, he has worked for Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University in Thailand. Where he teaches medical students on surgery and medical informatics as an associate professor. 

Wansa began working as a Head of the World Health Organization Family of International Classification Collaborating Center, Thailand since 2008. He is one of creators and maintainers of ICD-10-Thai Modification. He also works as part-time consultant for the World Health Organization for implementation of ICD-10 in Maldives, Myanmar, Cambodia, Lao during 2010 to 2020.  

Wansa obtained a bachelor’s degree in medicine from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. He also obtained master’s degree and doctor of philosophy in information technology. He has provided special courses on health data analytics, medical informatics and international classification of diseases for many physicians, nurses, data scientists, clinical coders and IT personnel in health care sector. 

Wansa became member of the Thai Medical Informatics Society since 1994. When the society changed to the Thai Medical Informatics Association (TMI) in 2005, he was the secretary general of the association. Wansa was the founder of the Young IT doctor training course since 2016.  Now he is the current president of the Thai Medical Informatics Association.
